Today, Canada is country with a multi-cultural population of about thirty two million.
It is a multi-cultural nation because many different cultures live side by side sharing
the land and resources. Some of the nations include:
- the First Nations (formerly called Indians or Natives)
- the Western Europeons (eg English, Irish, Scottish, French, Spanish, Dutch, German, Swiss, Austrians, Norwegian, Sweedish, Italian)
- the Eastern Europeons (eg Ukrainians, Polish, Romainians, Bulgarians, Russians)
- the Asians (eg Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Sikhs, Hindu's)
Although the people of these different cultures have different customs, traditions
and ways of living their lives they have many similarities.
