Communication Topic: RECEIVING General and Specific Praise
Objectives:
1. The students will demonstrate that they are RECEIVING general and specific praise.
Resources/Materials: none
Spring Board Role Play:
Give specific praise to 2 students.
Freeze role each role play and Ask students to describe what happened.
Follow up questions:
1. Did the student RECEIVE the praise?
2. How do you RECEIVE praise?
Define Receiving praise:
Receiving praise involves letting the person, who gave the praise, know that you have
received the praise.
Examples of Phrase/Words that may used to indicate that you have received praise.
"Thanks."
"Thank you."
"Thanks for the compliment."
Group Roleplays:
Have the students break up into groups of two and create role plays that involve receiving praise.
Have two or three groups perform role plays.
Follow up Questions:
1. How do you feel if someone doesn't receive praise, after you just praised them.
2. Can receiving praise be unnatural?
Communication Challenge:
